Introducing Vanache

Today is a day for peace, change, and music.

That said, here is an artist I was introduced to in Brooklyn a few weeks ago. His name is Vanache and this is one of my favorite records from his debut EP "Remember The Face"... Hope you enjoy!

Be Cool... G-Eazy

With the coming of 2011 comes a new year for people to attack whatever it is they set out to do in 2010 but maybe didn't accomplish. The new year always brings new energy and aggressiveness. 2 great words.

That said, it's been a while since Interstellar Beat has brought you new music or artists...so instead of waiting til the new year....I figured there'd be no time like the present.

Introducing G-Eazy...

A rapper who in his about me section describes himself:

"Yes. I’m the rapper you found on your girlfriend’s iPod and couldn’t help but say that shit is dope.
Yes. My life is a party. Yes. I’m white. Raised in Oakland and Berkeley, CA, currently chillin in New Orleans.
Yes. I’m in college. Trying to get it done…Yes. I’m a big ass kid. Never wanna grow up.
Yes. I wanna make millions one day and ball outrageous. Yes. I make most of my own beats, and record all my shit in my dorm room. Yes. I’m chill, but if you see me in public and try to approach me, if u get a weird vibe, I’m not tryna be hollywood its just I’m kinda socially awkward and don’t know how to take compliments. Thanks though.
Yes. I listen to The Beatles everyday. Yes. I listen to a Tribe Called Quest everyday.
Yes. I spit. But if you see me at the club don’t ask me to battle. That shits annoying and I’m tryna chill.
Yes. I do a lotta shows, and perform with a live band. Those guys are dope as fuck."

The New EP "BIG" is available for free download at:

http://music.g-eazy.com/album/big

I recommend a listen or at least a download. The tracks are dope. The style is sick. "California Culture" "Big" and "SB Dunks" are just a few of my favs.

Cheers G-Eazy! Best of luck in 2011!

As of 2011 I will be a contributing writer to an ongoing blog called "Rock The Disco". The blogs posted on there will be different from the ones on Interstellar Beat. Check out some of the other contributers at

Daniel Merriweather at the Brooklyn Bowl

Got the opportunity to see Daniel Merriweather live at Brooklyn Bowl a few weeks ago....

There are not a lot of male vocalist out right now and this guy truly has an amazing voice. The set up was simple: a pianist, a guitarist, and a singer. His set was about 30 minutes long and he did a number of songs from his recent release, "Love & War". I picked up this record last year during my travels in Europe and became a fan.

Producer Mark Ronson, who is most popular for his work with Amy Winehouse, has been a close friend of Merriweather's for some time. You'll hear some familiar horns and motown sounds used in this album as well.

If you haven't picked up "Love & War", I most certainty recommend you do...

Justin Timberlake, Mike Posner, and Designer Drugs....Beats!

Greetings Space Cadets!

This past weekend was a particularly exciting one. I stumbled across some new musik that you may or may not have heard.

Let's start with a familiar face:

Justin Timberlake.

The song is called "Winner" and it features Jamie Foxx and T.I.

I'll categorize this as "Hip-Pop", a genre that is becoming more and more Radio friendly. This song, to me, is a great example of what happens when you take 3 respected and admired male artists and create something that is commercially acceptable and has diverse appeal. Also, it's been picked up for use by the NBA which is perdy dang cool....

"Justified" and "Future Sex Love Sounds"...2 successful albums. I am definitely looking forward to another from Timberlake.

(take a listen to "Winner")

Next...A not so familiar face:

Mike Posner

You ever have those moments when you're driving somewhere and a song comes on the Radio you've never heard before? Well, that's how I stumbled upon Mike Posner and his song, "Cooler Than Me".

This song offers the perfect mix of unique vocal styling, creative beats, and, I'm just gonna say it, fresh lyrics.

Very excited for what's to come from Posner....

And now for something completely different...

Designer Drugs

feat. Kiddy Smile

Beats. Beats. Beats!!

Okay, so i don't speak French....but damnit, this s*** is cool!!!

Designer Drugs is made up of two creative beat makers, Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson. Based in New York, the DD team has produced over 23 remixes and DJ’d hundreds of shows around the world. Looking to switch things up a bit, Designer Drugs is now working on original material and will continue to make, and i quote, "Pop Banger Music"...

Yes please.
